Text Box: Ndigbo Switzerland is made up of Igbo individuals and groups. It has been in existence since 2nd October 2005, after a Consultative Forum held in Lausanne, Switzerland and the name “Association of Ndigbo Switzerland”, was christened by Chief (Barrister) Tony I. Idigbe (SAN). This association was formally registered by the Government of Switzerland with effect from 4th December 2005. Ndigbo is defined as Igbo speaking areas in the present South-East, South-South and North-Central political/geographic zones of Nigeria. Ndigbo Switzerland was formally launched on 23rd September 2006 at Palladium City Hall in Geneva, Switzerland. The launching drawn important personalities from all works of life and under the Chairmanship of Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu and Chief Launcher, Dr. A.B.C. Orjiako. Also, in attendance are Chief Tony I. Idigbe (SAN), Chief Alban Ofili-Okonkwo, Chief R.C. Okafor, Dr. John OTU (Representating Governor of Ebonyi State), Ambassador Joseph Ubaka Ayalaogu (Ambassador of Nigeria to Switzerland), Mr. Mani Onumonu and host of other personalities. The keynote address titled “National Unity in diversity: ‘The case of Ndigbo of Nigeria” was delivered by Honourable Justice Chukwudifu Akunne OPUTA –CFR, while the Co-lecture was delivered by Governor of Ebonyi State, Dr. Sam O. Egwu. Ndigbo Switzerland
